Author: Nema HV, Nema Nitin

The book, “Diagnostic Procedures in OPHTHALMOLOGY”, discusses about the advanced diagnostic investigations and procedures, which are useful to obtain accurate and speedy diagnosis of eye diseases. The routine tests required for examination of the ophthalmic patients include recording of visual acuity, color vision and color defects, slit-lamp examination, tonometry, gonioscopy, optic disc assessment, ophthalmoscopy, and perimetry are all explained in the book. It also discusses about tools like fundus fluorescence angiography, indocyanine green angiography A-scan and B-scan ultrasonography, their role in the diagnosis, documentation and treatment in various disorders. Some imaging techniques like ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), confocal microscopy, and corneal topography are also discussed. Some chapters emphasize on the diagnostic procedures in infectious keratitis, uveitis, retinopathy of prematurity, concomitant strabismus, localization of intraocular foreign body, incomitant strabismus, dry eye disease, proptosis, genetically transmitted eye diseases, and intraocular malignancies. This text and the terminology developed by the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology (P.S.C.) represents an important advance in the field of pancreaticobiliary cytopathology. This textbook/atlas is designed to present a comprehensive and state of the art approach to the cytologic diagnosis and reporting of pancreaticobiliary lesions. Chapters address each of the diagnostic categories defined by the P.S.C. The definition of each category along with the clinical pathologic entities contained within the category are discussed along with specific cytologic criteria for inclusion of a cytologic specimen within the category. Each chapter is lavishly illustrated demonstrating diagnostic criteria and examples of lesions contained within the category. Additionally, appropriate ancillary testing is discussed and where appropriate illustrated. Each chapter concludes with a discussion of appropriate management as well as estimates of malignancy risk for the category.

The Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology System for Reporting Pancreaticobiliary Cytology: Definitions, Criteria, Ancillary Testing and Management will provide the reader with a unified approach to diagnosing and reporting interpretations of cytologic specimens obtained from the pancreaticobiliary tract. This text/atlas will serve as a reference guide for pathologists, surgeons, endoscopists and radiologists.

Femtolaser Cataract Surgery

Author: Gualdi Federica, Gualdi Luca

The book Femto-Laser Cataract Surgery depicts the latest advancement in ophthalmology that is the invention of femto-laser systems for cataract surgery. Today, the cataract treatment consists of the surgical removal of the lens followed by the implantation of an intraocular lens (IOL). Cataract has remained the leading cause of blindness in many countries. There is need for the newer technique to reduce the intra and postoperative risks for patients and to facilitate the intervention for the surgeons, so as to allow rapid functional recovery of sight. One such technique is the Femtosecond Laser-assisted Cataract Surgery. The purpose of this book is to describe the femtosecond laser surgery, and to compare it with the traditional phacoemulsification, which represents the current standard technique. The five laser systems discussed are LenSx, VICTUS, LensAR, Catalys Precision Laser System and the FEMTO LDV Z8 Laser Systems.

Clear cell carcinoma (CCC) of the ovary with its unique clinical and biological features has attracted great attention, and calls for the publication of a specialized book on the subject. This is the first atlas that has narrowed its focus to CCC. Revealed here are the typical and variable histological features of CCC and related tumors. Hundreds of high-quality photographs help the reader to recognize the pathological features and clinical manifestations of CCC and to formulate diagnoses confidently and accurately. Data are based on the international central pathological review of the JGOG/GCIG3017 clinical trial in which experts around the world participated. Using a virtual slide system, interesting and significant features of CCC were discovered in the review of 652 cases. This book provides the newest information on the categorization and classification of CCC: growth patterns (papillary, tubocystic, solid, and adenofibromatous), cell types (classical hobnail and clear cell, eosinophilic, oxyphilic, and oncocytic), stromal changes (hyalinized, necrotic, hemorrhagic, lymphocytic infiltrative, luteinized, and psammomatous calcification), presence of endometriosis and atypical endometriosis, and borderline/atypical proliferative tumors. The Atlas of Clear Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary is an invaluable diagnostic resource for pathologists and gynecologic oncologists.
